Plant powders of Zingiber officinale rhizome and Piper guineense seed were used against adult rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae (L.) on rice grains (Oryza sativa). Both plant powders were applied at 2.0g, 6.0g, and 10.0g concentrations under ambient laboratory conditions (27±2?C and 75±2%). Mortality of adult Sitophilus oryzae at 24, 48 and 72 hours after treatment were recorded and compared with the control. The highest concentration (10.0g) of Z. officinale and P. guineense recorded higher mortality than the control. However, there was significance difference only in the highest concentration of P. guineense seed powder and the control (P<0.05) in mortality of adult S. oryzae.

Multinational corporations, as the main means to the free transfer of goods and services and factors of production, especially capital and technology, play an important and determining role in the globalization process. Iran is among the developing countries that are faced with a shortage of capital and appropriate technology, and therefore seek to attract foreign direct investment by activating multinational corporations. However, due to some constraints in the fields of national security, it has achieved limited success in attracting foreign investment. In this paper, an attempt has been made to examine the status of multinational corporations before and after the Islamic revolution in Iran.

This research is aimed at assessing the effects of potassium nitrate on the body weights and the blood parameters of wistar rats. Thirty wistar rats of both sexes weighing between 142-147g, aged 3 months old were kept in Animal House of the Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology, University of Nigeria, Nsukka for 4 weeks for acclimatization before the commencement of the study. The study rats were divided into 5 groups (A to E) of six rats per group. Group A to D were treated with test substances while E which received no test substance served as control. They were fed orally with graded doses of potassium nitrate and liver meat (group A=250mg nitrate, B=250mg liver meat, C=125mg nitrate/ liver meat, D=125mg liver meat/kg/body weight respectively) once daily for 60 days in lower concentration compared to an oral LD50 of 500mg/kg/body weight was determined using Field and Wisconsin as modified by Shetty and Arika. At the end of the experiment (60 days), the rats were bled from the retrobulbar plexus of medial centus and about 2.5ml of blood were collected from the five groups into K3-EDTA anticoagulant containers for hematological analyses. The analyses shows the significant decrease in the body weight of the rats treated with potassium nitrate when compared to other groups (P<0.05). The total white blood cell counts significantly decreased in potassium nitrate alone treated rats when compared with other groups (P<0.05). The platelet counts showed increase in potassium liver meat treated rats when compared with the other groups (P<0.05). The total blood films of the potassium nitrate treated rats showed stomatocytes, poikilocytes, crenated red cell, irregular contracted red cell and hypochromasia when compared with the control.

The laboratory assessment on the efficacy of the root powder of Indigo vine (Lonchocarpus cyanescens) was carried out against adult Sitophilus zeamais on stored maize grains. The result obtained shows that the root powder at various concentration, 0.5g, 2.5g and 5.0g per 50g of maize grains caused adult mortality of Sitophilus zeamais during the period of treatment. The highest mortality rate was obtained from the maize grains treated with 5.0g of the root powder at the 7th day after treatment while the lowest mortality rate was obtained on 28th day after treatment at 2.5g rate of the root powder application. Chemical analysis shows that rotenone was isolated as the active ingredient in the plant used.

The monosex Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus L., was exposed to an organophosphorus compounds insecticide, Diazinone60 at concentration of 1.46 µg/l for 28 consecutive days. The mortality incidence percent due to Diazinone60 toxicity was 0 %, 25 %, 33.34 % and 41.66 % for the periods at 7-Day, 14-Days, 21-Days and 28-Days, respectively, with overall mortality rate 100 %. While, the return losses for each /100 fish was 0 , 18 , 18 and 54 LE/ 100 fish for the periods at 7-Day, 14-Days, 21-Days and 28-Days, respectively, with overall losses about 90 LE / 100 fish.Behavioural, clinical, hematological, serum biochemical and histopathoogical alterations were assayed at a regular interval of 7 days. The abnormal behavioural responses and toxic symptoms were described. Exposure to Diazinone60 not only significantly decreased lymphocyte and basophile percentages, total leucocytic and total erythrocytic counts, haemoglobin percentage and packed cell volume value, but also caused serious effects in the form of hypoproteinaemia, hypoalbuminaemia, hypercholesterolaemia, hyperglycaemia and significantly increased serum aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase activities. Moreover, the histopathological results indicated that the haemobiotic organs were affected by Diazinone60, primarily liver and gills. Our data suggest that the exposure to Diazinone60 exerts a serious metabolic distress on the fish corresponding to the exposure period. In addition, the assayed parameters and histopathological findings can be as good biomarkers of organophosphorus compounds ecosystem pollution.

A study on some commercial body creams sold at Eke Awka Market, Awka, Nigeria was conducted to isolate, characterize and identify the fungi present in them. Samples of five different brands of unused body creams were used in the study, with sabouraud dextrose agar as the growth medium and streaking as the method of cultivation. The fungi were isolated, characterized and identified on the basis of their cultural and microscopic characteristics as Penicillium sp, Fusarium sp, Mucor sp, Rhizopus sp and Aspergillus sp. The fungal counts ranged between10 cfu/g and 22cfu/g. Sample 4 had the highest count while sample 3 had the lowest count. Mucor sp and Aspergillus sp occurred most frequently in the samples while fusarium sp and Rhizopus sp had the least occurrence. The contamination of these body creams by the isolates may have come from a variety of sources such as the raw materials, air, soil, water, the producers and packaging materials. These isolates are known to cause diseases of man and animals and their presence in the body creams is a public health concern. This calls for an amendment in the existing formulation protocol and a strict adoption of good manufacturing practices to eliminate the entry and proliferation of these organisms.

The quality and content of teacher training course has always been one of the controversial issues related to popular dichotomy of theory and practice in language teaching.Teacher training in Iran goes back to 1919, when it was called Central Teachers House (Darol moalemine Markazi) headed by Mr. Abolhasan Forooghi. Since then many other Teacher Training Centers have been established to train and certify teachers. In this study the researcher tends to critically analyze the efficacy of the curriculum used in Iranian Language Teacher Training Centers.Data was collected via questionnaire from 30 male English teachers graduated in less than 10 years ago; the questionnaire had 53 items. The data collected in this study were analyzed in qualitative terms with certain quantitative aspects where required. The analysis of the questions was carried out by extracting the frequencies of all the responses given to each item and marking items with the highest poor and borderline rate of answers.

Imam Ali (AS) has talked about death awareness as well as death contemplation. In this article, Imam Ali’s (AS) view to death awareness has been studied. In the death awareness part, it is clear that Imam (AS) knows death as right (true) and as he states signs of its reality stresses the death generality.

The privacy right is one of every ones natural and certain right that brought him inherent dignity and humanity, and has close relationship with community's peace of mind and thoughts. Everyone has the right to expect the government and people to respect his or her privacy right in all dimension of his social life. So one of the government and people task are to support this right and prevent to aggression and violence against his or her privacy right. Islamic law protected this right. Also Qur'an pays attention to this kind of right in several cases such as noor and hojeratsura (verses 27-28 -11-12. the best example is no fault, no lose in the field of the respect to privacy right. Privacy right within Iranian law has been partially supported. By juridical consideration of privacy right and range support of it, we can fillip the legislators of new rules to complicated suitable Islamic rules without rape and falsehood against privacy right.
